I had been waiting for two years for the invitation. Every Wednesday during the summer and fall, my wife races aboard a sailboat on Lake Charlevoix. I understand now why it took her so long to invite me, this is her place away from family, our friends, our life. This has become her sanctuary. A place that is just hers.
At the beginning of the racing season she told me she would invite me to come. “Late in the season,” she said. “If you come during the summer you won’t see the sunset.” She was right to have me wait. Oh what a sunset.
